Packing Your Belongings

Midas Moving

Boxes

Label each box with the room name for easy placement in your new home. Ensure all non-appliance items are packed in sturdy, sealed boxes with lids and flat tops.

Midas Moving

Furniture

Clear all furniture surfaces before moving day. Our team can disassemble multi-piece desks, beds, entertainment centers, and more. Note: OSB (particle board) furniture should be fully disassembled, as we cannot cover damage.

Midas Moving

Beds

Remove all bedding, including mattress covers. Water beds must be fully drained, and their mattresses boxed before moving day.

Midas Moving

Dressers

Empty all drawers. Clothing and linens may remain if the dresser is not being moved up or down stairs.

Midas Moving

Safes & Jewelry Armoires

We can move safes, but please notify us in advance so we can bring the proper equipment. Empty the contents, lock the safe, and transport valuables separately.

Midas Moving

File & Storage Cabinets

Remove all items to prevent structural damage. Emptying drawers keeps cabinets intact during transport.

Midas Moving

Computers & Electronics

Disconnect all devices before moving. Use original packaging for the CPU, monitor, and printer when possible. Take a photo of cable connections before unplugging to make reconnection easier.

Preparing Appliances & Equipment

Appliances

Disconnect all electrical, water, gas, and data lines before moving day. Refrigerators, freezers, and wine coolers should be emptied and unplugged at least 12 hours before the move. Remove drain pans and secure moving parts.

Wall Hangings & Mirrors

Take down all pictures, mirrors, and wall decor before moving day. Keep them together in a safe place away from high-traffic areas. These will be the last items loaded onto the truck.

Restricted Items

For safety reasons, we cannot move hazardous materials, including:

  • Combustibles: Matches, gasoline, propane, charcoal, aerosols
  • Chemicals: Pool chemicals, pesticides, paint thinners, fertilizers
  • Pressurized Tanks: Fire extinguishers, ammonia, propane tanks
  • Automotive Items: Motor oil, car batteries, antifreeze
  • Household Items: Nail polish, bleach, cleaning solvents

Ways to Save Time & Money

  • Move Smaller Items From Upstairs to the First Floor or Garage.
  • Disassemble and Reassemble Furniture Yourself When Possible.
  • Notify Movers of Any Large Items That May Require Special Handling.
  • Disconnect Washers, Dryers, and Refrigerators in Advance.
  • Have a Designated Area for Packed Boxes Near the Entrance.
  • Clearly Label Boxes With Their Designated Rooms for Easy Unloading.
